Today we will enjoy a relaxing ride, discovering the local sites and encounters.
We set off towards the archaeological site of Sesi and the village of Mursia (1) and from here towards the centre of Pantelleria Castle (2) with its archaeological collections.
Then we go to the Bukkuram area, where we meet Fabrizio Basile, owner of the Bukkuram winery.
During the visit, thanks to Fabrizio’s experience, we will learn more about the techniques of pruning vines using the alberello method and the techniques of making passito wine by visiting an ancient grape drying room. Depending on the time of the visit, you will also be able to improvise some pruning/harvesting or participate in the drying of the grapes and their vinification. At the end of the morning, you will be rewarded with lunch and wine tasting in the cellar. A true culinary experience with the flavours of the garden that reign in the Pantesca kitchen.
Return in the afternoon, dinner and overnight stay.
The image you take home:
Although Cantina Basile (3) is a relatively young company, it has managed to base its activities on tradition. In fact, its wines and passiti express the island of Pantelleria at its best. You will remember the eccentric owner, his love for the land, his faithful helper, a horse that still ploughs part of his terraces, and the curious encounter with a typical Pantellerian donkey.
Duration of the excursion: 5 hours; length: 20 km; height difference: about 400 m.
