Trekking to discover the secondary volcanisms of the island, difficulty E, involves a difference in altitude of approximately 400 meters up to a maximum altitude of 500 metres. above sea level for approximately 7 km of trekking with a travel time of approximately 4 hours. Today leads us to listen to the “breath of the island”. The landscapes take us back in time through lands cultivated with the system of terraces and dry stone walls, heroic agriculture of the island. The path will lead us to the Favara Grande (1), a secondary volcanism represented by fractures in the ground from which the steam coming from the depleting calderas emerges, projecting the visitor into Dante-like landscapes. Leaving Favara Grande, we continue until we reach, crossing an oak forest, the Grotta del Bagno Asciutto (2) where it is possible to experience a natural sauna, or rather a Turkish bath, inside a cave. From here, reaching the nearby car park, by minibus we reach “Bagno dell’acqua”, known as the mirror lake of Venus (3), where we will eat our packed lunch. This area houses an eco-system unique in the world due to the presence of stromatolites and cyanobacteria. After having eaten our lunch we will move, aboard the minivan, to the nearby Cala Gadir (4) to enjoy the hydrothermal pools by the sea. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
