Pantelleria Experience

Everyone is ready for the first day of discovering the island. After breakfast, our minibuses will take us to two of Pantelleria’s must-sees: Lake Venus and the Gadir Baths. It is in these places that you will understand the meaning of the phrase “Pantelleria an open-air spa”.
The first stop is at Lake Venus 1, the legendary place where the goddess Venus used to bathe every morning. It is a volcanic crater that has created a basin with a unique ecosystem. You can relax by immersing yourself in the small pools of warm water or by sprinkling your body with natural mud, which is considered an excellent treatment for the well-being of the skin.
After this relaxing stop, we will continue the tour, passing by Cala Cinque Denti 2 and reaching the marina of Gadir 3. This is a thermal resort par excellence, thanks to its pools of thermal water dug into the rock. We will continue this relaxing morning; it is in this small harbour that you will have the opportunity to approach not only the warm waters but also the sea of Pantelleria for the first time.
Afterwards, we will have lunch in a local restaurant, where we will taste only typical recipes.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

The small harbour of Gadir has long been the only example of a fishing village on the island, where the sailors of Pantelleria used to sell their freshly caught fish. Cala Gadir is still very much alive and you can still see the old fishermen weaving their creels with reed or preparing their nets for fishing.

The first point we will visit before going inland is the Elephant Arch (1), a classic postcard souvenir that you cannot miss and, if you wish, a swim.
We then continue to Piana Ghirlanda (2), where the guide will explain the techniques of pruning and growing vines using the alberello method, to help us understand why this practice has been declared a UNESCO Intangible Heritage.
We continue towards Cappereto Bonomo (3), one of the most important examples of heroic cultivation on the island.
Light lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

We are bikers but let’s not forget that we are on an island and what better way to discover its coastline than a tour of the island by boat. After breakfast we will go to the harbour of Pantelleria (1) to begin this day of sea and relax. The full tour of the island will give us the opportunity to visit numerous creeks such as Nikà with its thermal waters, while being fascinated by the colour of the seabed and the spectacle of the coastline with its impressive cliffs and numerous caves. There will be several opportunities to stop for swimming and snorkellin. There will be also stop for a light lunch on board.
Around 16.00 we return to port in the direction of the accommodation facility.
Return in the afternoon, dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast at the hotel, we leave for a food and wine tour. We will discover the island’s culinary tradition, with strong rural roots and some maritime influences.
The first stop of the day is Punta Spadillo (1), with its lighthouse and volcanological museum. From here, thanks to long-standing partnerships with the most qualified wineries in the area, we will go on a tasting tour of their cellars.
Here we will learn about the techniques of pruning the vines using the Alberello method and the techniques of making Passito wine by visiting an ancient grape drying room. Depending on the time of the visit, you will also be able to improvise some pruning/harvesting or participate in the drying of the grapes and their vinification. At the end of the morning, you will be rewarded with lunch and wine tasting in the cellar. A true culinary experience with the flavours of the garden that reign in the Pantesca kitchen.

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the Sesi necropolis (1). Here you can admire the best preserved prehistoric Bronze Age village in the Mediterranean. After this stop, we continue to one of the most ancient places on the island, the natural sauna “Grotta di Benikulà” (2) at the foot of Montagna Grande. A place of rare beauty and originality that can be reached after a short walk along an old mule track. It is in fact a Turkish bath in a natural cave that uses the steam that escapes from a crack in the rock inside the cave itself. All this is framed by the picturesque landscape of the Monastero plain, a valley dedicated to agriculture, with the Mediterranean Sea in the background.
Finally, we head for the archaeological site of San Marco and Santa Teresa (3). Here you can admire the amazing Roman Acropolis and discover the splendour of ancient Corsica during the Punic-Roman period, when the island was one of the most sought-after destinations in the central Mediterranean, thanks to its strategic position between Africa and Sicily. Here, in 2003, imperial portraits dating from the 1st century AD were discovered.

Return to the hotel for lunch and afternoon at leisure.

An unforgettable evening among wines, stars and gourmet food awaits you in the vineyards of Bukkuram Estate.
You will have the opportunity to taste the wines of Abraxas Winery and Alchimia’s gourmet food, while lying among the vineyards of Bukkuram Estate, looking at the stars, guided by the words and equipment of an astronomy expert. All accompanied by Alchimia’s gourmet cuisine.
What can you see on this evening?
The naked eye viewing will include: Milky Way, Moon, Summer Triangle (Denib – Vega – Altair), Sagittarius, Scorpio, Northern Mythos.
Telescope viewing will include: Moon, bright stars, double stars, star clusters, galaxies (weather permitting).
