Pantelleria Experience

Everyone’s ready for the first day of exploring the island. After breakfast, we’ll head straight for one of the main districts: Scauri (1) with our minibuses.

We’ll then move on to Piana Ghirlanda (2), a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site. It’s the final stretch of the caldera floor of ancient, enormous volcanoes. Surrounded by coastlines covered in wild vegetation and rocky outcrops, it’s surrounded by coastlines covered in wild vegetation.

From here, we’ll reach the Elephant Arch (3) for a classic, postcard-worthy souvenir photo, a true natural monument that stands as a symbol of the island.

We’ll have lunch at a local restaurant, sampling typical island dishes. Immediately afterward, we’ll visit the traditional Giardino Pantesco, an ancient orchard surrounded by a circular dry-stone wall made of lava stone that protects the citrus trees from the strong island winds.

After breakfast, we’ll climb to the natural sauna “Grotta di Benikulà” (1) at the foot of Montagna Grande. A place of rare beauty and uniqueness, reachable with a short walk along an ancient mule track. It’s a Turkish bath inside a natural cave, with steam escaping from a crack in the rock within the cave itself.

Our second stop is at the Lago di Venere (2), the legendary place where the goddess Venus came to gaze at herself every morning. This volcanic crater has created a basin with a unique ecosystem.

After breakfast, we’ll head to the port of Pantelleria to begin this day of sea and relaxation. A complete tour of the island will allow us to visit numerous coves, such as Nikà with its thermal waters, while being captivated by the colorful seabed and the spectacular coastline, boasting imposing cliffs and numerous caves. There will be several opportunities to stop for swimming and snorkeling, not to mention a light lunch on board.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the Necropolis of the Sesi (1), the first people to settle on the island for the extraction of the black gold of antiquity: obsidian.
Here you will admire the necropolis and its prehistoric village, dating back to the Bronze Age, the best preserved in the Mediterranean area.

We will visit the archaeological site of San Marco and Santa Teresa (2), a stunning Roman acropolis, and discover the splendor of ancient Cossyra during the Punic-Roman era, when the island was one of the most sought-after destinations in the central Mediterranean due to its strategic position between Africa and Sicily.
It was here that the so-called imperial portraits dating back to the 1st century AD were discovered in 2003.

Finally, we will head to Punta Spadillo (3), a scenic area located on the northeastern coast of Pantelleria, dominated by the lighthouse of the same name, one of the most important landmarks in the Strait of Sicily.

FOOD AND WINE TOUR

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set off on a food and wine tour. We’ll experience the island’s culinary tradition, characterized by strong rural roots and some maritime influences.

The first visit will be to the Capperificio (1), a company specializing in Pantelleria PGI capers, where we’ll learn about the processing, selection, and packaging stages. This will be followed by a visit to a small farm to taste typical island products.
At the end of the morning, you’ll be rewarded with lunch and a tasting in a winery.
A true culinary experience through the flavors of the garden that reign supreme in Pantelleria cuisine.

You could reach the summit of Montagna Grande for a souvenir photo and perhaps stop by Kuddia Mida to visit the fumaroles, with a glimpse of Lake Venus from above.
