Earth, water, fire and air
In Pantelleria the natural elements and man (as if it were a fifth of them) have combined over the millennia giving shape to a unique landscape, today protected by the establishment of the first National Park in Sicily and by the inclusion of the Pantelleria Rural Landscape among those to be safeguarded.
Such a harsh and strong nature, resulting from the volcanic origin of the island, has represented an arduous challenge for man, forcing him to find solutions, sometimes unique, in order to make its long-term settlement possible. Examples of this include the vast terracing and dry masonry work, a UNESCO heritage site, the practice of sapling cultivation of the Zibibbo, also a UNESCO heritage site, the creeping pruning of the olive trees, the Pantelleria garden and the construction of cisterns for the storage of rain water. In this series of excursions we will focus on the individual elements on a daily basis, trying to reveal their impact on the territory and on the people who inhabited and built it.
We have created a seven-day package for you nature lovers, you will stay in an apartment with a small balcony overlooking the sea at the Residence Kuddie Rosse, you will taste the typical products of the place and you will come into contact with the wild nature of this island in the center of the Mediterranean.
